Han Shoots First 3.0

Fellow Star Wars Fan Bois, we're here again. It's time for another major overhaul.

We've had a major technology change. Our last host provider went belly up.

We've added one new feature: Quiet in the Falcon. Quiet in the Falcon, gives us an opportunity to look into the conversation during the long and quiet hours in the Falcon. As you can imagine, with Han and Chewie, there are more than a few interesting converstations (coming as soon as eBay can hasten our Millenium Falcon Playset).

Yes, we took a few features away. We killed the forum. It was a SPAM magnet and despite our best efforts, it turned HanShootsFirst away from our real mission: To Preserve a Star Wars that Doesn't Suck. We still have the articles section, where if you have a great Star Wars related article, movie, etc. Let us know and we'll post it.

They're here!

UPS has just dropped off our Original Trilogy DVDs and I must say that we at HSF.org are so excited that we are about to...well...let's just say that we are excited, and we're sure that you are too.

For those who aren't aware, the Star Wars Original Trilogy, unaltered and unmolested by George Lucas (unless of course you count the THX digital remastering and the digital conversion to laser disc), has finally been released on DVD, in part, thanks to this site. You're welcome. Anyway, if you haven't already purchased yours, Amazon has a pretty decent deal on them. Sure, you get stuck with a copy of the new version as well, but hey, don't we all need more coasters?

I trust that everyone has seen that Mr. Lucas has finally conceded and is going to release the original versions of the films...you know the one where Han Shoots First!

September 12th, we'll finally be able to get our hands on an unripped, unadulterated, un-revisionist version of our beloved Episodes IV, V, and VI (we can still pretend they're wookies). They're supposed to retail for $30 a piece. The films are supposed to be exactly as the original theatrical presentations of 1977, 1980, and 1983, as well as include the "new" versions. They'll be pulled from the market on December 31st, borrowing a play from Disney.

We, the Star Wars Fan Bois would like to thank you. Yep you, sitting there. If it weren't for your support, Mr. Lucas and Mr. McCallum would have sat on these films until they died from greed intoxication.
No worries, HanShootsFirst.org will not be closing down just yet. We still have that matter of Episodes I, II, and III. It is our mission to get these films removed from the Star Wars canon for the tripe they are.

  • 1977 Theatrical Release: Han Solo shoots Greedo first in the Cantina.
  • 1995 THX Release: Same scene, but with "better" video and sound (but then again it is VHS, so did it really make any difference?)
  • 1997 Special Edition: Greedo shoots at Han, in a really, really bad effect where Han's head some how detaches from his body momentarily.
    • Han then Shoots Greedo, in "self defense."

Star Wars - A New Hope (untainted)

Normally, we love to see alternate spins on films, like the Director's Cuts of Apocalypse Now! and the Aliens Quadrology. Both are examples of fine films, that have extended the Director's original vision. What makes Star Wars so different from these films, is that there is not an alternate version, only the "Special Edition," the sanitized-for-your-protection version of the film. Despite the clamor and the near begging, Mr. Lucas emphatically refuses to release the Theatric and THX versions since 1995.

Though we know it is pointless and Mr. Lucas couldn't care less, it is our hope that Mr. Lucas will acknowledge the demand for the original versions and manage to release Star Wars yet again (and get another $50 out of every Fan boi's pocket). Tell Mr. Lucas, Mr. McCallum, LucasFilm, and Fox Studios we want to see the theatrical and THX versions released to DVD.
